Admissions
Our Pupil Admissions Number (PAN) is 15 places for each year group. Currently we have Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils in one class and therefore try to adhere to the maximum of 30 pupils in this class.Most children join a school in their Reception year but some might need to change schools at different ages and different points during an academic year, e.g. if their parents move house. Whether you are considering your child’s first school place or transferring from another school, you will need to apply through the Essex County Council's Admissions Team and follow their admissions process.

Criteria when Applying:
As we are a maintained school, our school places are allocated using criteria set out by the Local Authority and detailed below. In line with Local Authority regulations, there is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admissions area. In the event of over-subscription, places are allocated using the following criteria:
1. Looked After Children and previously looked after children
2. Children with a sibling attending the school;
3. Children living in the priority admission area;
4. Remaining applications.
In the event of oversubscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given the highest priority.
As required by law, all Essex primary schools provide for the full-time admission of all pupils offered a place in the Reception year group from the September following their fourth birthday.
Parents can request that the date their child is admitted to school is deferred until later in the school year or until the child reaches compulsory school age in the school year.
The law does not require a child to start school until the start of the term following their fifth birthday. Compulsory school age is reached at that point. It is the decision of the headteacher if these requests will be adhere to, however, these requests can be declined by the headteacher.
Where entry is deferred, the school will hold the place for that child and not offer it to another child. The parent would not however be able to defer entry beyond the beginning of the term after the child’s fifth birthday, nor beyond the academic year for which the original application was accepted.
Parents can request their child attends part-time until the child reaches compulsory school age. Parents interested in taking up a part-time place should contact the school for further details as to what this would entail. It is the decision of the headteacher if these requests will be adhere to, however, these requests can be declined by the headteacher.
If you plan to defer your child’s start date until later in the school year, you must still apply at the usual time for primary or infant school places.
Once your child has been offered a school place by the Essex County Council's Admissions Team, we will contact you to notify you of the 'Parent Information Meetings', ''Stay and Play Sessions' and 'Come Dine With Me Lunch', 'Nursery and Home Visits' during the summer term.
